Mary Alvarado

What subjects do you teach?   I taught Spanish for two years and I’ve been a school counselor for seven years.

How many total years have you been teaching?  I’ve worked in education for the past nine years.   

Where did you grow up?   I grew up in Collings Lake, NJ and Egg Harbor City, NJ

Who is your role model and why?  My mom is my role model.  She has always been supportive and has always been there when I needed her.  She encouraged me to get an education.  Then, she urged me to hang in there whenever the going got tough.  

What is your favorite part about Oakcrest?  I enjoy working with the Oakcrest Staff and especially with my students.  I consider it an honor to be a part of their decision making process as they pursue their post-secondary plans.  It gives me great satisfaction knowing they have achieved their goals.
